The old story of the three piggies and the big bad wolf, a favorite for many, was previously turned into a new slot by Quickspin. The one we’re looking at today is just the version they designed for Christmas, and it’s a clone of the original where it matters. The graphics were changed somewhat, so it’s winter now, and Christmas is bringing the usual mix of decorations and gifts with it.

It’s looking as good as ever, and the graphics have held up quite well since the original came out. There is a lot more snow in this one, and they added Christmas lights next to the reels and in the tree next to the game area. Most of the symbols have gotten the same treatment, with the Royals getting snow on top, while the piggies are wearing warm clothing, and the Wolf is dressed as Santa. Even the beehive wild has a gift bow on it.

How To Play It

You are allowed to pick a total amount, with 25 coins used, and a betting range of $0.25 to $100.

In exchange, the game activates 25 lines on 5×3 reels, which you can use to create wins of 3+ matching symbols (left to right). If you’ve played the original Big Bad Wolf, then you know exactly what this version has for you, it’s the same game basically.

Special Features

What other companies have called Cascading Reels or Avalanches, Quickspin calls Swooping Reels, but the underlying principle is the same. Winning combinations trigger this feature, which will make the winning symbols disappear, and new symbols will fill the empty positions. This stops happening only when there are no more winning combinations formed.

A result of this mechanic, is the Pigs Turn Wild feature. For every two Sweeping Reels triggers (meaning two wins), one of the three pigs will be turned into an extra wild. With a total of six consecutive sweeps, you end up with three pig wilds. This mechanic resets after the spin is over.

Regular wilds are also used, and they have the image of the Beehive with the bow on it. It’s a replacement, though only for a regular symbol, and it pays up to 40x the stake for its own wins.

Santa Wolves will get you into the slot’s 10 free spins feature, provided that you have 3+ symbols present.

While in free spins mode, a feature called Blowing Down The House can activate, as you collect any Moon symbols landing on reel 5. Get 3 Moons, to win 2 extra rounds and to blow down the wood house. Don’t go in expecting huge top payouts, Big Bad Wolf Christmas is more of a slot that everyone can enjoy, keeping the volatility on the high side of medium. 1,225x the stake is the highest it appears ready to go, but they also announced a very good RTP, of 97.34%.
