How To Play It
The betting system is identical for all slots that ELK Studios releases, and it goes from $0.20 to $100, while using 100 coins.
In this particular case, the game area is different than what we get in most slots. It offers 5-3-1-3-5 symbols on its 5 reels, with a total of 81 lines, which will pay both ways. A lot depends on the symbol from the 3rd reel, since winning combinations can’t form if they don’t match with what’s shown there. The game makes it work though, as you’re going to see.
Special Features
For starters, a wild symbol will be provided, and you will be able to use it as a substitute for any symbol. These can also expand horizontally, but only on the reels 2 (towards the left) and 4 (towards the right). The expanding wilds guarantee a win when they land, since the two resulting wild positions are combined with the symbol from reel 3, to get you paid.
The first two and the last two columns will get Mystery symbols. It’s a standard mechanic, which has all its positions transformed into a single type of regular symbol.
Several random features are incorporated, but you have no control over the moment when they trigger. You could get an upgrade for lady symbols into just one of those ladies (Lady Swap), it could be up to 50x multipliers applied, or Walking wilds with respins, and Locked Wilds with respins.
Ultimately, you want the free spins to trigger, via 3-4 scatters (landing on reels 1, 2, 4, and 5). You get either 1 or 2 guaranteed Mystery Stacks on the reels, respectively. These nudge down by one position each round, and if new ones land, the free spins will continue for as long as that happens.
An increase of the multiplier also occurs, after each nudge, and once again you can get very good prizes this way.
Maximum Payouts
10,000x the stake is the amount that you can claim in Fate of Fortune. The slot is not going to be risk-free, it’s highly volatile, and the RTP is also at a fairly low level (95%). ELK Studios appears to have reduced the RTP in their games lately, which is a shame.
Summary
Fate of Fortune is an interesting one, for sure, and there are interesting features and a unique game area for you to explore inside, along with good prizes. That 95% RTP makes it a bad option in the long run though.
