How To Play It
For its betting range, Night Trax goes with the same system that every other ELK release has. It uses 100 coins, and their total value will be somewhere between $0.20 and $100.
You’re playing on 6×4 reels, and you have 72 bet ways to use. It’s a system that revolves around arrows, pointing in different directions (horizontally or diagonally, and all of them towards the right side). As you connect these symbols, wins are formed, and there is even a way to split into different directions.
Special Features
As far as features are concerned, those start with the wilds, that you can use as part of any winning combination. It can create combinations on its own when there are enough of them, and it will pay the top prize, 25x the stake for a full combo.
Regardless of how you form your winning combinations, there will always be Trax Respins triggered when you get paid. The respins lock the initial combo in, and change the other reels, so that you get a chance at an even better prize. It goes on until you get no more new symbols for your combinations.
Should a split occur, meaning that you get arrows pointing in two different directions, but sharing some of the same symbols until then, the game will pick a random multiplier, to apply to their wins. The boost can be anywhere from 2x to 32x (5 multiplier values available within that range).
A Hold & Win style respin feature is also included, and it requires 3 scatters on the reels, to trigger. You use those bonus symbols as multipliers, which will be sticky on the reels. You then aim to get different types of multipliers, or arrows, while using the 3 respins that you’re given. When you get new multipliers, the respins will reset to 3. Should arrows land between multiplier symbols, it will be upgraded as well.
The aim is to get multiplier symbols in all positions, as that’s what gets you paid in the end. Depending on their type, each one can pay 1x to 500x the stake. With a full screen, the prizes can be tripled in value.
Maximum Payouts
Night Trax promises a jackpot of 10,000x the stake, which is acceptable for a slot machine where volatility is high. There is risk there, but there is also a decent potential prize to look forward to. What’s not as great, is the 95% RTP that they’ve announced for this game.
Summary
While a lot of ELK Studios slot machines will do a good job, I wouldn’t put Night Trax in that category, and it’s mostly due to the RTP that they’ve been using lately. They dropped the returns in their new games, from their usual 96%, to 95%, so games like Night Trax aren’t really worth looking into anymore. Even with the 10,000x jackpot that’s promised, the odds are just lower than in most games you find online these days.
